phillip mcrorie is an educator and artist based in the charlotte-metro area instructing dancers in release-based modern techniques, ballet, and choreography, as well as generating new works as an independent artist/guest choreographer. phillip completed his ba - dance studies at appalachian state university and is a recent graduate of the jacksonville university mfa - choreography program. before shifting to teaching full time he performed with the asheville ballet, caroline calouche and co, and verge dance collective. his work centers the felt experience of the mover and aims to share that experience with dancers and audiences alike. by combining different dance techniques, improvisational practices, and anatomical knowledge, phillip aims to help students and movers discover their own movement aesthetics and potential.
